Hacking how we see

Can people who don't see in 3D hack how they see? Can we change the world by building a global citizen-science experiment to definitively find out?
I'll be talking about current progress towards a generally useable and low-cost system to help amateur researchers and interested participants discover what their vision system can do. There will be a workshop following this (location / time TBA) to discuss how to get from where we are to where want to be :-)
