Chaospager: How we built an (in-)complete DIY POCSAG Infrastructure for 38c3

SoS Saal E
builderhummel
From the initial idea of bringing a POCSAG Transmitter to Congress, to constructing our own custom pager based on ESP32 and SX1278: We will share the story of our project, how we finished it in 2 months, the problems we encountered with our cheap components and what to look out for when constructing your own project. During the Congress, we will conduct an experiment to find use cases for our system and test its capabilities. And the best part? - You can visit us at our assembly afterwards, borrow a pager (for free) to play with it on Congress (very limited supply), and help us with the experiment. Whether licensed or not, everyone is welcome and can participate. [Link to experiment:](https://github.com/Builderhummel/signalspielplatz-pocsag-experiment-38c3)

If you are neurodivergent or looked into the topics ADHD and Autism this might be the session for you. Unsure? No worries. Curiosity is enough to participate. I'll bring some fidget toys, talk a little about stimming and accessibility for neurodivergent minds. Please bring your own topics, life-hacks and toys so we can learn from each other! *CN:* Attendees might want to raise topics that can be triggering. These can be discussed in smaller groups where everyone is okay with it.
