How can we support postcolonial perspectives in ethnological collections? Join us to interweave artifacts, plants, and documents into new knowledge networks and discover the stories and activities that connect them.
Workshop This workshop investigates postcolonial approaches to collections, databases, practices, and knowledge rooted in the Amazon. We want to invite you to explore the evolving Amazonia Future Lab knowledge graph! Contribute your perspectives and frame questions that will aid us in shaping interfaces for navigating, experiencing, and contesting rich information spaces. Project Amazonia Future Lab is a joint research effort between the Ethnological Museum Berlin, the Ibero-American Institute, the Institute for Museum Research, Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin, Museu Nacional Rio de Janeiro, and UCLab at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. The general aim of the project is to use the potential of digital formats and tools to communicate, exchange, network, and jointly create new knowledge about material and immaterial heritage. The digital tools shall support different perspectives, include knowledge practices, and introduce original and new social contexts. Indigenous knowledge in particular is to be given equal visibility. To see them from different perspectives, include knowledge practices, and introduce original and new social contexts. The connected knowledge will be publicly accessible in its processuality via interactive formats of exploration and participation.
