Kabinett
Ryan Williams
A gonzo adventure into the belly of organised cybercrime and the positive technology it inspired
The primary focus of this discussion is the unauthorized utilisation of simboxes, a technology which cost telcos approx $6.1b last year, the long-line trawlers of smishing campaigns globally. Those we see arrested for sim box crime are just the tip of a very well-organised and technically capable iceberg. We'll deep dive the technology, the use cases, and the players behind the scenes. Additionally, this presentation explores utilising the same blackhat techniques exploited by these organisations to achieve positive outcomes. The concept behind the development of an innovative application of SS7 technology aimed at assisting individuals impacted by domestic violence. The proposal is centered around the creation of free and opensource transparent early warning system, offering vital lead time to victims and frontline crisis housing staff, potentially saving lives.
