DIY Audio Effects Pedal

Musical effects are for everybody! Join this workshop and get hands-on experience assembling and programming your very own guitar pedal using an open-source microcontroller specifically designed for music applications. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to understand how we have created effects, and have the resources available to them to create their own with this platform. We will begin by understanding how various effects function and then assemble a custom PCB and enclosure for your pedal. After assembly and testing participants can tinker, ask questions, or participate in an improvised jam session. We will provide resources for participants who want to create more effects with code for hacking purposes after the workshop. There are a limited number of kits available.
We have spent the past year developing an effects pedal because we believe musical effects are for everybody! Join this workshop and get hands-on experience assembling and programming your very own guitar pedal using an open source microcontroller specifically designed for music applications. We will begin the workshop experience by doing some quick introductions to some sound concepts, and some digital signal processing basics before diving headfirst into assembling the PCBs and enclosures. After assembly, we will test and ensure that our PCBs are working properly. After assembling and testing participants can tinker, ask questions, or participate in an improvised jam session. We will provide resources for participants who want to create more effects with code for hacking purposes after the workshop. Please bring any instruments you would want to test with the pedal. The pedal uses 1/4" jacks, but we can also bring some adapters if you have something with a 1/8" jack.

In the realm of modern software development, ensuring correctness and reliability of software systems is paramount. Functional programming langaunges like Haskell offer a unique approach to achieving these goals through strong type systems, immutable data structures, and pure functions. Despite its practical benefits, functional programming is not yet widely-used in mainstream development. Here, we'll take you on a gentle exploration of the fundamentals of functional programming, emphasizing ...
