This session is follow up from a session held at the Creative Commons Global Summit 2020: https://medium.com/creative-commons-we-like-to-share/open-questions-in-a-warming-world-37346ffef6cb. This follow up will try to better explore who is missing in the conversation at the intersection of the open and the climate movement. This workshop will generate ideas and questions about the underlying implications of open culture and copyright in a warming world. Open Access in science and research is key to the bodies of knowledge and scholarship for identifying the problems and solutions for climate change. But there are likely other ways in which the open movement could advance “everyday” solutions to climate change, from unlocking easy and digestible climate information, to documenting the consequences of climate change. This workshop will generate ideas about potential approaches to activate open communities in addressing the climate crisis.
